Having chemistry in a relationship is vital if you want the relationship to be sexually and physically satisfying, happy and lasting. Unless we want to be with a person where the relationship is more like a sister with a brother than two lovers together, chemistry is crucial. It is difficult to imagine missing someone or rushing to spend time with them if we do not fancy them. It almost makes the relationship pointless, as we already have friends we spend time with but we do not have that special chemistry with, and it is because of that and other things that they are only friends.

We know when we have chemistry in a relationship when the sound of their name makes our heart skip a beat, a glimpse of them makes our toes curl up, our stomach churns when we sit next to them and hold their hand and looking at their photo fills us with ecstasy. Chemistry is about a physical longing and rapport and has nothing to do with how good looking they are. They might be short, fat and bald, but we can still lust after them and have that wonderful chemistry with them. We sometimes see a couple where one is young and good looking and the other older and quite ordinary to look at or even ugly, but they are together because they have love and things in common and chemistry.
If we meet lots of people and somehow none of them seem to be the right one we can just glimpse someone else, someone new, and know from just looking at them that they have that special chemistry we need and are looking for. It could be their smile or it could be a combination of things, but the real test of whether or not chemistry is there is when we feel butterflies in the stomach and excitement at just seeing them, hearing their voice or being near them. We can sense it when we are with them, thinking of them or even if they are walking up the garden path and about to walk through the door, or across a crowded room where our eyes meet over canapes and cocktails. When we have chemistry with someone it is like a bolt of lightning that hits us and we know we only get that feeling with that person. Sometimes the chemistry is there, even if we have nothing in common with them and do not like them.
We can feel chemistry with several people at once and many people in a lifetime, as chemistry happens more often than true love, but to have the chemistry and the love together is rare and very special.
