Using vomiting to lower temperature?
I've never heard of this before and wondering if anyone can relate. My son is 2 years old and has had about 3 pretty high fevers in his lifetime. After a while of running the temperature, he throws up, and then all of a sudden his temperature disappears. This happened last night. He ran a temp all day (and has what I believe to be a cold, coughing and snuffly), it got worse at night, he threw up about 1am and then slept perfectly until 6.30am. He's still coughing and a bit lethargic, but is otherwise fine. Should I treat this like a gastro bug and not feed him, only give fluids? Or should he be fine? The way I'm seeing it, his body using vomiting to bring down the temperature, I've just never seen/heard of it before.
