Baby movement..?

I am pregnant with my first baby, almost 19 weeks now. Being new at this, I am not quite sure what to expect. I have talked to a few women and they have all given me various answers to my question: Is it normal to feel cramps in the lower abdomen just seconds before you feel the baby move? I would like to hear as many answers as possible, so that I stop worrying. My doctor says that everything is ok with the baby and me.

Re: Baby movement..?
There are a lot of unexplainable things that happen in pregnancy. Many things are fairly common and you'll find many women have experienced the same thing, and then there are those little things that even doctors can't explain why. This in mind, it NEVER hurts to ask your doctor any and all questions that go to your head. They expect this! and you have every right to be worried.. you're growing a new life inside you, after all! For me personally, if what I feel is only mildly annoying I wait to see if it happens often for that day. And if not, I wait a few days and see if it happens consistently. And on my next doctor visit, I ask the question. If what I felt is very painful and/or involves bleeding, then I phone my doctor immediately. I've experienced some very milk cramps during both my pregnancy early on and nothing has come of it. I've discussed it with my doctor and he said that it was probably nothing. He was right.  On the otherhand, if you at all feel sharp pains and noticed bleeding, call your doctor asap.

Re: Baby movement..?
Here's a guess:  the cramps could be Braxton Hicks contractions, and baby may feel them too, and so bubs has a wriggle.  I started getting the B-H's at about 15 weeks, and first felt movement around 18 weeks.  From previous pregnancies, I remember that certain things would stimulate baby to move.  Eating sugary things, rolling over in bed, and even music towards the end.

Re: Baby movement..?
You may be experiencing braxton hicks.  In my first pregnancy I had an irritable uterus and had LOTS of braxton hicks.  In my second pregnancy my BH's started at around 12 weeks and usually caused some baby movement immediately afterwards.  I didn't have any pain with mine, just an uncomfortable (sometimes very strong) tightening of the uterus.  Any cramps with pain should be checked out, and any BH's that are close together (like 5 minutely) and regular should also receive attention (I had 3 hospital admissions for this personally).  Otherwise BH's are just the uterus preparing for labour and nothing to worry about.

Re: Baby movement..?
hi and congrats! alot of mums experience craps in their lower abdomen during their pregnancies due to the uterus stretching, there are also braxton hicks which is like a bad period pain later on which is the body practicing for the big event! expect alot of crazy thinsg to happen to your body and as as many questions as you want! all mums have been there and know how scary it is the first time :) if you ever get really worried about anything just take yourself off to your midwife or doc and im sure they can explain it to you and keep your mindfree of worries take care and good luck
