Re: parents of learner drivers
are you asking about the new logbook hours? like racechick i only have my L plates too and i have to do 50 hours of driving on my L plates before i can sit for my P plates, i think this is hard to find another adult to drive with but its ok it means you have to do alot more supervised driving before you can go on your own which isnt really a bad thing i guess. if i had to do 150 hours id find it almost impossible to get my P plates! who would honestly want to teach me that much and i couldnt afford that many lessons!

Re: parents of learner drivers
Hi Winja, I actually have just got my P's 3 months ago (I'm 38!) I was on L's on and off for years and I had a log book with 50 hours and it expired, so when I went to renew my L's I found out I had to do 120 hours (with at least 20 night driving) So I had to do an extra 70 hours. It is actually surprising how quickly you cann clock the hours if you get someone to come with you on short trips into town etc. Just doing the daily driving. And as you get closer to the 120 hours you really feel a lot more confident driving  with a bit more ability. It is a good idea to get a few professional lessons. In NSW they are very strict now on kerbside stops, and parking have to be pretty close to perfectly lined up to the kerb when you finish and also the driving instructor in your local area will know what streets will be on the course for the driving test. So you can practise in the areas that you would be likely to go in your driving test. Good Luck getting your P's. I know how good it is after so many years on L's.

Re: parents of learner drivers
hi griz thanks for the vote of confidence matey lol im hoping to have my Ps by the end of the year so fingers crossed! finding it difficult atm because my dad and stepdad refuse to teach me due to the fact they have suffered thru teaching my other siblings, my mum works full time and so do most of my mates, i dont have a partner and what i need is to practice in a parking lot or somewhere empty lol so i cant offer to drive anyone TO things yet which is a bummer! id get lessons but cant afford too many so i have to pick wisely and parking lots practice isnt worth paying for! (stingy i am lol) thanks again and il let you know when i get my hours so you can make sure your not on the road lol xxxnat

Re: parents of learner drivers
i have only just got my Ls (late in life i know but it wasnt a priority for me)  heres from the QLD transport website http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Driver_licence/Getting_a_licence/Car/Learner_licence When learning to drive you must: clearly display L-plates at the front and rear of the vehicle. be accompanied by a person who holds and has held an open licence for the class of vehicle you are learning in (for example, automatic or manual), for at least one year carry your learner licence with you and show it to a police officer when asked to do so obey any conditions stated on your learner licence have a zero (0.00 per cent) blood or breath alcohol limit if you are under 25 years and a blood or breath alcohol limit below 0.05 per cent if you are 25 years or over. Drink driving offences carry monetary fines and disqualification periods not use a mobile phone. Passengers and supervisors are also restricted from using a mobile phone in loudspeaker mode while the car is being driven.  just remember We have different rules from the other Australian states such as a learner can travel at 100km on a motorway if signed but in NSW they can do no more the 80kms. check with your states department if you are confused with what the new rules are.
