Control Crying

Does anyone have any advise about control crying? My daughter is 13 months old and we have attempted to control cry however, find it difficult to deal with her standing in her cot. If we lay her down and just walk ot she just gets straight back up again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Control Crying
I used a book called "the no cry sleep solution" as I didn't like the idea of letting bub cry.  I found it very useful. Goodluck.

Re: Control Crying
I done controlled crying with my son(he was younger and was my fault cause he used to sleep with me) and i used to leave him for a few minutes and then go back in give him his dummy and lay him down. (Whatever you do don't pick your child up). After about 3 nights of doing it he knew that i would just keep coming in putting him down again and leaving until he fell asleep. I wouldnt worry if your daughter stands up she will learn sooner or later. He is now 2 almost three and has no issues with sleeping what so ever. I have a daughter now and she sleeps alone and will be 1 soon.. If you teach them they settle themselves!!

Re: Control Crying
I used control crying for 2 of my 4. This is all great advice and I want to add that you should be sure that they don't want to settle (their being naughty). My 5mth becomes fussy because he has wind or is sick. His personality doesn't allow for control crying too. He's a great sleeper anyway, TG, but be sure your child's personality can handle it. Choose a method that is best suited to your child whether it is best to leave the room and shut the door, leave the room but leave the door open, turn off the light but stay in the door way or as mentioned turn off the light and sit on the floor rubbing their backs. I will say do not let them cry for more then 10min before resettling. Start with 1min and double it each time till you reach 10mins.

Re: Control Crying
Not sure which method you're using, but I used the one where you stay for 2m out for 4 so on for 10 ms.  Once child settles you leave.  Anyway the best advice I got was to sit on the floor and comfort thru the bars of the cot, if you lean over it gives the child impression you're going to pick then up.  Worked a treat. Good luck.

Re: Control Crying
when my son was doing that (he was alot younger, maybe.... 8 months?) we just left him for a few minutes and then when we came back in, we laid him down and gave him his dummy. we just did the repitition again and again. he is 15months now, and he still sometimes wont lie down, but he understands bedtime = bedtime. no negotiation. half the time now, he actually stays on his back lying there when i put him down! its so nice to be able to tuck him in and not have him squirm!
