is this normal or not after a spinal block c-section???

hi i had my spinal block c-section 1month 1 week ago today, and I'm in constant pain to the point where it even hurts just to get out of bed. the pain starts from where they put the spinal block in and goes down into my left hip and from there it just spreads across my lower back and and into my legs. if i want to do anything for the day it has to be done really early in the morning cause by mid morning i'm in so much pain its not funny. i've been to my GP about the pain and he rang my OB who then rang the doctor that did the spinal block who then ordered a MRI and is now sending me off to another doctor for them to have a look at me. i feel like i'm getting pasted about and that no one really wants to help work out why i'm in so much pain. please if this has happened to you please how did you deal with the pain and what did the doctors do for you?

Re: is this normal or not after a spinal block c-section???
Sorry to hear you are having difficulties. Hope they are resolved soon. My back/hip aches didn't start to occur until about six months after my spinal-block and my Doctor put this down to 'doing too much' as I had recently moved. Unfortunately my back/hips still tend to lock up on me five years later. I have never had an injury that would result in this happening so I have always put it down to the fact I did receive the spinal-block when I had my C-section. A friend suggested regular stretching exercises and this has helped, I have less recurrance these days.

I have always found if you are in pain the best place to go is emergency and the same hospital you had the c-section at I know it can take awhile but why stay a home in pain and wait days or weeks for different doctors when in emergency they do it all for you if your not happy with the doctor that checks you out ask for a second opinion don't leave the hospital till your not in pain it dose not sound right they will probably keep you in and sort it out.

I had a spinal block c-section a year ago and my back hasn't been the same since. I am meaning to go to the docs but everytime i do they always fob me off. The pain is where the needle went in, at the time they had trouble getting it in so maybe this is the cause, it is so uncomfortable sometimes i cant even pick up my child

I so feel for you, this sounds like a spinal block that has gone wrong and you should be seen to ASAP, sounds to me like nerve damage. I sincerely hope you get seen to real soon and something can be done to ease your suffering. Sorry I can't help you with answers as I've never had a spinal block and would never one, have heard of to many stories where things have gone wrong. I wish you well.

It can happen, but it shouldn't !The specialist they should be sending you to immediately  is a neurologist or neurosurgeon you need a specialist because it has to do with spinal/nerve damage. Don't let halfwits muck you around.

It can happen.  I was given a sheet by my anaesthetist of side effects and told to contact him if any occured..  Contact your doctor / anaesthetist.  There my be a build up of fluid in the area.  It needs to be dealt with ASAP..
