wine/stock

ok, so I its not parenting but it will help me stop spewing over cook books and help me decide what to cook for dinner. lol. I want to make a goulash pie but the recipe calls for 1/2 cup of red wine. I don't have issues cooking with wine, but we won't drink the rest and it will be thrown away be for I cook something else that conatins wine. The ricpe also calls for 1 cup of beef stock, does anyone know if I could just replace the wine with  stock? Besides I cooked a meal last night that contained white wine, I don;t want the local bottleo thinking I'm turning into an alco!

Re: wine/stock
Yeah, you can just use stock. Otherwise you can get alcohol free wine, or just small bottles of wine. In any case, nobody is going to think you're an alcoholic for buying 2 bottles of wine in a week, LOL

Re: wine/stock
I don't drink wine, but use it for cooking.  I buy the very small bottles (usually up the front of the bottle shop).  They also have them in plastic flexible containers, but the small bottles are better.

babe. you dont have to use wine at all. just add the extra amount of stock or water. all the wine does is add extra volume (taste wise) you can buy smaller bottles of wine but where I am un sure.

Re: wine/stock
You can buy little sachets of wine from Liquor Land(Woolworths) and most other bottle shops.  I don't reckon the local bottleshop owner will think you are turning into a alco, if you do go in two nights in a row.  A lot of people drink every night.

Re: wine/stock
I think you'll be fine to use just stock.  It probably asks for red wine to give it a full bodied hearty taste (maybe)  I always replace wine with stock, because I don't like to taste more often than not, and it's fine.  Good luck.
