Getting children to do chores as we all know is like pulling teeth but this is what worked for me. You do up a chart giving them certain jobs to do each day nothing really hard just little things like making their bed next day it might be setting the GA_googleFillSlot("minti_advice_island_logged_out_300x250"); table for dinner. When they complete a chore you give them a star on the chart, when they have accumulated 30 stars over 1 month they get a prize or money. So 30 stars they get $10 to spend. If they earn 20 stars they get $7.50 and 10 stars $5.00. I use yo do this with my kids I use to get them prizes when they were younger and money when they were old enough to know the value of it and then they could choose there own prize. They use to be very proud getting the stars and being able to choose which colour they wanted. They always got a prize no matter how low their stars were even if they didn't make the 30 they still got rewarded for their efforts.I would have to say I had a 99% success rate their was just 1 of my kids that was very happy just to get the 10 stars I think he was a bit smarter than me,there's always one that's one step ahead of you, this was my son who is now 19 years old who was very clever at getting me involved in conversations I would call it sidetracking me and not getting much done, he now lives in town and amazingly keeps the house in order so he was taking all these lessons in just clever enough to get out of most of them. Worth a try and have some fun along the way.
