Why not? Why make excuses for a lame or underfunded health agency? Why support any government anywhere in which monitoring the safety of *food* or *drugs* intake by anyone, including our animal friends and the animals we eat, has scarce resources. Think about the FDA's nominal reason for existing and why we pay taxes. If not them, who? Yet another agency?
This is one agency that should have huge resources if it wants my loyalty and faith. What we are talking about here are poisons. Poison -- as ugly a reality as murder.
I doubt few here want their children to eat animals that had consumed poisons, nor their pets to eat poisons. Out pets in the USA are a $40billion+ a year expenditure, so it appears they are important to some of us.
