ELECTRIC fence for the chickens . . . when he hits the 14000 volts, it will re-arrange his thought patterns. Works for me with my goat herd!Answer 2
If you know who the owner is, talk to them about the dog. If not ot if the owner won't do anything to stop the dog, call animal control and keep calling until they pick the dog up.Answer 3
One of the best deterrents for animals entering your yard is a BB gun. Discharging a BB gun is legal but shooting animals is not, so you have to be discreet. Some dogs learn real fast (just one pop) to stay away and some may take several education sessions. Use a spring BB gun and not the pump or co2 type. A spring BB gun will not penetrate skin where others might.
Had the same problem here with my chicken. I heard a commotion, ran outside just to see a dog high tailing it down the driveway. The chicken was not in the pen. Looked all over without finding the chicken, thought I had lost her but didn't find any feathers also. I left the house and returned about 2 hours later to find the chicken next to her pen. I think this is what happened: The dog got into the pen and the chicken flew up to the roof where I did not look. I knew who the owner was and talked to him. I asked him if he wanted to know that I killed his dog the next time it came into my yard. I have never seen that dog again, message delivered.
