This is more of a 'basic inequality' question: What determines when I write "x<2 AND x>1", "x<2 OR x>1", and "1<x<2". This is stumping me in my math courses! Please Help!!!

Well, the first and the last one are the same. The easiest way to interpret these are to replace < with 'is smaller than' and > with 'is greater than' then you can just say it out loud and you should understand. The first one becomes x is smaller than y and x is larger than 1.The next is x is smaller than 2 or x is larger than 1. The last is 1 is smaller than x and x is smaller than 2. The same thing as the first one. The first solution would be anything between 1 or 2.The next would anything larger than 1 or smaller than 2. In other words, anything other than 2 or 1 would satisfy the equation. The last is the same as the first one.
