How did cowboy culture reflect the ethnic diversity of the united states? Lotsa Latino and African American cowboys (you don't see them in the movies).

The largest portion of the cowboys would have been from New England. (Hence, the cowboy actor John Wayne, in most of his movies, welcomed newcomers to the West with, 'Howdy, Pilgrim.')

A real cowboy was someone who herded livestock on horseback, a honest occupation. Cowboy outlaws are a completely different breed. More specificity is needed to determine the answer to your question.
