White voters what's wrong with black voters wanting a black president?

Many in this forum seem to have a problem with it and I must ask why is it such a problem to vote for your race/ethnicity?

Wow I never thought that white people pulled the "race card" but apparently that seem to be happening in this case.

Thumbs down for answerers 1-4.

"Why does gender and skin color determine who you vote for"

because it always has and it always will. This is america is it not? and how may minority presidents have their been?

0 so obviously race is a big issue.

Blacks are voting for Obama for several reasons. Blacks were slaves and then considered second class citizens by their own government for centuries. Now after 200 years of suffering they finally get a seat at the table. I don't think it's a bad thing at all.

Secondly, most blacks are democrats. Republicans (and I know Lincoln was a republican) have a history of treating blacks unfairly (socially, judicially, economically) so blacks went to the next best option (Democrats). Hillary had a lot of black support before the primaries, but she has run a horrible campaign and is using negative tactics which offend all educated people.

Lastly, Obama is the best candidate out there. Maybe they are just smarter than bitter gun owners. He doesn't pander to voters (ie: Hillary's gas tax holiday). He is not afraid to tell voters the truth. He told black Americans to stop blaming others and fix their own communities. He talks to the American voter intellectually. His speech on racism in America will be talked about for decades. He is a candidate for change and the system doesn't want it. I just hope white America wakes up before its too late.

BTW: I am a white man from MS.

The problem is they are voting for him only because he is Black. They are over looking the fact that he is corrupt has no experience has a bad track record, obviously raciest ,Has a drug conviction on his record .I could go on but I think you get the point! Whites don't have a problem voting for a Black man ! But if Obama was White with his past do you really think he would be President material ? Of coarse not! If he gets elected he will do a great deal of damage to White and Black relations. Which is about the only thing he has accomplished.People don't seam to care about his corrupt past or the very questionable company he keeps. He is way to far left and that itself is very dangerous for America .And last but not least he will raise taxes forcing America into a recession which democrat's are already doing in congress ! Anybody that knows anything about politics or history knows Obama would be a disaster ! THUMBS DOWN ?Can't handle the truth can you ! How pathetic! Simple minds fall for the Obama Con game!

Voting for a candidate solely because of his/her race seems like racism to me. How about you?

Nothing...It's when white voters want a white president that you hear the black folks shouting "RACIST!"

Black people can't be racist....Only white people!

EDIT: LiGhTS....You're lights are on obviously on but nobody's home! You just said that you don't see a problem with blacks voting for their own race and ethnicity and you thumbs down people for saying the same thing as it applies to whites! You MUST be a Democrat! Your double speak SCREAMS left wing! The funny part is you really believe what you're saying and don't get it LMAO!!

By the way....how do you know we're white? No one stated their race! You just ASSUMED only whites can be racist which was the point I was trying to make in the first place! You just PROVED that you believe that by assuming we're all white!

And for those who say black people aren't voting for him just because he's black, I invite you to view the video below of some of Obama's "constituency".

The significance of voting race, this time, is because there has never been a black president.

It raises the ceiling of possibility for black children, who may have thought that they had no hope of growing up to be president.

...Of course the same thing could be said for the glass ceiling that sits above girls.

As long as the candidate is qualified - it's each voters business who they choose and why.

If it is the main reason for voting for a candidate then I have a problem with it. The issue of race does not make a man or woman great, it is there character and ideals. If I were to say that the only reason I'm voting for McCain (which I'm not sure I am) is because he is white, what would that say about me. We must put ourselves in the other persons shoes, and while I understand how a black man or woman would want a black individual to represent the country, I hope it is not the only indicator. When you say that some individuals are playing the "race card" how are you not, this is a racial question (racial not racist).

If that is your single issue - the color of someone skin, then it is a problem. I would say it is racist. Would yu have a problem if I said, "Hilary (or McCain) is white so I'm voting for them"? I would say 99% of blacks would be outraged. It's wrong either way. Any one who picks one issue and finds a candidate based on that one issue is not a very smart person.

As you can see, white people are not allowed to cry racism. If skin color is your single issue (which is the only issue the question mentions), I beleive it is racism. If you like change (regardless of what change means) then so be it. If you vote strictly on democrat or republican, your crazy.

For the ones out there screaming racism, you guys are ignorant. Im voting on obama not because he is black, but for what he says. And so are alot of other black people. Now granted there are some who are voting because he is black, but don't let that few be the judge for the rest of us. Besides i don't like hillary i don't agree with anything that she says, and i am a democrat so it's either him or her. I'd vote for him even if he was white. Race shouldn't be an issue. Maybe for the rest of you that have posted stupid remarks it is,but then that would imply that you urself are a racist.

Why does gender and skin color determine who you vote for. By the way, his mother was white. Feminists should be outraged that in this case, the male's contribution trumps the female's and he is identified as black. The problem of voting for race/ethnicity is that you omit the most important considerations - the person's character, judgement, ideals, and ideas.

EDIT: What if the question were flipped and asked, Black voters, what's wrong with white voters wanting a white president?

Let us all be honest and real here for a moment. People have answered race or gender should not matter but it does. If it were not an issue then why has it taken us this length of time for a true candidate of a different gender or race to be seriously considered? And please don't say it's because up to now there was not any decent ones. Let's not forget that a scant forty some years ago it was appalling that a "Catholic" might be President. Since this country has been founded there has been a lock on white rich men being the only ones with the so called qualifications to run this country. This turn around has been a long time coming and I for one am glad.

I don't really care if they want a black president, I just wish it could have been a better one, you know someone with experience or has a real policy. Most people are voting for him just because he is black, I know because I heard people say that. I just wish they were just more informed.
