At any one time approximately one in every four individuals in the United States suffers from a mental illness or substance abuse. While most of those cases are mild, 14% (1 in every 7) of the general public suffers from a moderate to severe case. Over the course of a lifetime, the incidence increases. This means that over your lifetime, you have a 50% chance of experiencing some type of mental disorder.
Heart disease is known to affect between 3.8% to 22.1% of individuals in different states of the US. This means that the incidence of heart disease is comparable in some states, and lower in others.
