Microsoft Saying Goodbye to Aero in Windows 8 "Microsoft is unsurprisingly saying goodby to the 'Aero' user interface with Windows 8, calling it 'dated and cheesy.' Aero has been a mainstay since the debut of Windows Vista back in 2006, requiring a bit more GPU horsepower from machines than those running 2001's Windows XP, both of which are still currently being used worldwide." http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Windows-8-Metro-Aero-Jensen-Harris-Vista,15708.html COMMENTS: "The real reason is that tablets don't have the horsepower to run Aero, so they had to dumb down the OS for everybody. Way to try to downplay advances in a UI, Microsoft." "In 5 years: 'Metro UI...bleh. This isn't what we wanted to roll out, anyway.'" Word! MS is only getting rid of Aero because mobile is the hot stuff now, and Aero will waste its' precious underpowered CPU cycles. MS is hoping to sell Win8 on weak ultrabooks and tablets. What a bunch of shit.

Did anyone like Aero before? I didn't

I don't really get what the big deal about Aero was? Why were people so excited about it? Because it looked Kewl? I was so excited about it after a month of using Windows 7 that I dumped it for Ubuntu.

Ding Ding Ding

Give the man a CeeGar.

Like I've been preaching about for years, the day of the desktop computer "as we know it" is about to end.

If not Windows 9, then for sure Windows 10 will be entirely cloud based, as will be OSX and multiple distros of Linux.

The "computer" will be a dumb terminal with almost zero local storage and everything will be stored in your cloud drive.

Mobil devices will be tablets or smart phones, and tomorrow's computers won't need any horsepower. More important than processing power will be broadband connectivity, and it wouldn't surprise me to see pricing based on how fast the NIC in the device is rather than how fast the CPU is or how much RAM it has, since 6G networks will be available in every nook and cranny of the earth.

You won't "buy" software, or even movies. Everything will be streamed from the cloud. Need to type a Word document? Make sure your subscription to MS Office Online is paid up to date, open Word, and type away. When you're done, save your document to your cloud drive.

Anyway, you called it exactly right.
