Is this healthy? HELP!? okay,so i am 12 years old and im a girl,and i weigh somewhere near 125-129. people say its healthy,but i dont think it is. a lot of my friends keep telling me its all muscle[in a way,i agree]. is it healthy for me to weigh that much before basketball comes up in December or November? and how should i practice for basketball when i DONT have a basketball? a lot of my skills have been lacking 'cause of summer. help? please.

You don't need a basketball to exercise....basketball is a "wind" game as is soccer ! What I mean by that is that there is a lot of running and movement......so why don't you try jogging if that's possible and safe for you as that will get you into shape not only from a cardivascular point of view but toning also ! Once basketball starts they'll teach you the techinal part of the game and the fundaments but you'll be in shape and able to keep up ! *S*

BTW...Basket ball is a Canadian invention if you will and thought up by Dr.Naismith in Aylmer Ontario.....couldn't resist ! *lol*

You're a little pudgy but not fat. At your age you shouldn't worry about it. Just eat healthy and play sports and you'll be fine. You should probably do some running so when practice starts you will be in good shape. Do a combination of sprints and long distance. Ask your parents to buy a basketball or buy one yourself. You can buy one pretty cheap.

Im 13 and I about 5'3'' I way around the same 127ish and so do some of my friends and we all play basketball..we have played for like ever and it doesn't really bother us...So what I tryin to say is I totally think it's normal =]....I also run and lift weights sometimes and yes it does really help..also in the summer if your school has a weights class I would say take it...it will help you stay in shape during the summer =]

u can practice ur shooting form without a ball. just pretend u have one. or if u have a soccer ball or a volleyball or something u can practice shooting with that. or u can do some ball handling drills with that. or u could just buy a basketball. u can run some to cause basketball takes some stamina to. and that sounds pretty normal to me.

Practise at school in the gym or on the basketball court.. Your school could lend you a basketball at like recess.. When you shoot, push off of your feet and jump when you shoot.. It helps build leg muscle. School basketball starts around late October BTW... It's different in other schools.. Being the weight that you are is fine.
